Information

Shenandoah County Public Schools have created a partnership with the Shenandoah Community Health Clinic and Strength In Peers to bring medical, dental, and mental health services to the Southern Campus. The Wellness Center is located at Ashby-Lee Elementary School and is open to all students grades Pre-K to 12 regardless of whether they have health insurance or a health care provider. The center provides services to students free of cost. Private insurance, Medicaid, and FAMIS will be billed when applicable.

The Wellness Center is open Monday through Friday when the schools are open. But not all services are available at all times. A walk-in medical clinic is available without an appointment on Mondays from 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. All other services are provided by appointment. To schedule a medical, dental, or counseling appointment, call 477-9779 or 459-1700.

Strength in Peers works to build student confidence by helping them learn how to cope with stress, sadness, fear, grief, and other feelings. They work with kids one-on-one and in groups to talk about the challenges they are facing. They also work with parents to help them understand what their children may be going through and provide support. These services are also free of cost.

Strength In Peers’ services will be available to students and parents starting in mid to late October 2017. Services will be provided Monday through Thursday. Appointments with students will be done at school during the school day and afterschool. Appointments with parents will be done at home, in the community, or over the phone. For more information, call 217-0869 or go to www.strengthinpeers.com.

For your child to receive any of the above services, please complete and sign the consent forms in the parent packet.
